Foreboding Respite (2023)

Program Notes: Foreboding Respite represents an underlying tension of rest being haunted by the closing in of expectations, deadlines, and other worldly stressors. Is it possible to truly have rest with these burdens taking hold in your mind, or is the respite a mere mirage, obfuscating everything you should be getting done instead? In a year full of new and old obligations, stresses, and a very heavy workload, this piece represents my ongoing reconciliation between rest and the chaos of everyday life.

Premiered by Nathanial Zsedenyi on April 6th, 2023 in Comstock Hall at the UofL School of Music.
